Paper weaving
After looking at patterns in the art room, the students in year 4, created their own paper weaving patterns using complementary (contrasting) colours. We looked at the colour wheel and found that complementary colours sit opposite each other. These pairs of colours are:
Red and Green
Yellow and Purple
Blue and Orange

Year 4 look at patterns in the art room.
In groups, students had to create a variety of different patterns using the equipment in the art room. after discussions we found that we could make many different patterns using 2 or more objects, or 2 or more colours. It was a lot of fun making decisions as a group and compromising on ideas. The most fun was had while collecting all of the equipment to but our ideas into action.

Year 4 look at shape
Students in year 4 discussed a variety of different shapes. We looked at geometric and organic shapes. For our art project we used a variety of different geometric shapes and overlapped them to create a random pattern across the page. We looked at colours that were next to each other on the colour wheel and used these to fill in blocks of colour throughout the shape design.
